Names
On my other page I speak of names I have gone by including my elven name which is far more constant then any human name I have been called. I have a different name among dragons then elves and another name that Angels call me. Pretty much all Ethereals do. We never use our real names when dealing with incarnate life forms. We can't use them with any but ourselves, when in our natural forms. It is impossible to say anything in the Ethereal language with a physical body. I have never actually met a non-Ethereal that was even capable of perceiving the way we communicate with each other sufficiently to even start to grasp it. Being of energy we communicate with a blend of high frequency resonance fields and EM shifts that is remarkably complex and difficult to describe. Human technology might at this time be getting to the point were human could build a sensory system that could detect the entire range of our language and given time I'm certain that humans using that technology could essentially translate the language, but they will never be able to speak or perceive it with out a mechanical aid. Nor will elves, dragons, angels or any other incarnate beings. However, We can communicate using spoken word with physical (incarnate) beings so this is not a horrific communication barrier. It just means that we don't have the luxury of being ethnocentric about language and have to put our real names aside when dealing with others.
